:bademoticon: Let's welcome another DA starter!
Hi! Please introduce yourself. What are your interests?
Hi. I'm ShiroiKoumori. I am into crafting and my favorite crafting style is cross stitching. I am not a fast stitcher since my cross stitch projects are usually big ones and they take a lot of time to complete. Plus I have a day job. hehehe.
My other crafts are easier and faster to make.
I am interested in a wide variety of things ranging from Science to History and everything in between. I am a big fan of the Castlevania series. As seen in these two works of mine of the same character, Alucard, with two different art styles, but stitched in the same method.

How did you find Deviantart and how did you decide on your username?
I already know about dA for a very long time but I did not enter until I have a solid amount of work that could be featured. My username is Japanese for white bat. It originated way back in 2003 with the launch of the game Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. The main character Soma Cruz can transform into a white bat and I found the sprite work to be really cool. This is also the same name I use it with the Castlevania Dungeon Forums (castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/…) but with a space between the two words (Shiroi Koumori).
How would you describe your art style?
I can make stuff out of different artisan styles but my most favorite one is cross stitching. Cross stitching allows me to recreate pixel art into something that can be held and would inspire other people. This is above just making or admiring sprite art. This work requires dedication by finishing each stitch one by one. And the result is always jaw dropping-ly awesome.
Could you tell us a bit about how you got involved into art and if you have any goals as an artist?
I started learning how to stitch when I was 6 years old. My first attempt at cross stitching started at that age, but I required an adult's help (my mom, usually) to start and end the thread. It is only until recently that I've decided to pursue projects of a large scale and pushed myself to recreate my favorite Castlevania character, Alucard, in cross stitch form. Again, there is a lack of people who make Alucard portraits in cross stitch. Most people who do pixel related art of this character tend to stick to his in game sprite form. My goal is just to continue enjoying what I do and finish all the projects I want to make, after all, my art is just a hobby and not a source of income for me.
Please introduce one or more source(s) of inspiration and motivation (artists, works…) for you.
I am inspired by pixel art. I guess that is because I still belong to the generation of gamers that were born in the pixel art stages. Nostalgia also factors in my choices. As I've already mentioned Castlevania is a big inspiration especially those characters designed by Ayami Kojima.
I also am ispired by cross stitch kits by Mirabilia. She makes really pretty cross stitch patterns.
This Archangel came from her pattern but I modified some stuff.
I also like scenery. I am planning on making some cross stitch projects with that in mind.

We love funfacts - Do you have any for us?
I am good enough at Japanese. I still am not at the native level but I have a JLPT certification that I'm at N2 which is defined as the ability to understand Japanese used in everyday situations, and in a variety of circumstances to a certain degree. For more information on JLPT levels: www.jlpt.jp/e/about/levelsumma…
I had translated a light novel depicting the events after Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, entitled "Akumajou Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku" (Castlevania: Ricordanza of the God's Abyss)

Feel free to read it guys!

Do you have any skills you are famous/popular for?
Does your direct environment (family, friends, etc.) know about your artistic side?
Yes. They are supportive with it.
What inspires you usually?
I am inspired by pretty characters. Look at Alucard from castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Sigh... I'm such a fangirl of him. Any other character that is of that level of prettiness is something inspirational for me.
Any closuring phrase, quote or artists you would like to promote?
Thank you for taking the time to read through all of this.
Thank you very much for the interview! Is there anything you’d like to say as we close up?
Watch, fav and comment on my artworks please. I especially like reading your comments so please don't hesitate to write something.
